Indulge in executive chef Bobby Matos’ Valentine’s Day menu at La Lucha with a three-course, prix fixe dinner for $49.95 per person. Start with a potato pancake with caviar, deviled egg with pickled shrimp and thai marinated crab fingers, followed by “perfect greens” salad for the table and either texas toast burrata, tuna poke or cast iron cornbread. Family-style entreés include fried chicken biscuits, roasted winter squash, sweet potato spoonbread, braised greens and mushroom fricasse. The legendary San Jacinto Inn, founded in 1917 as a small family-operated restaurant, was Ford’s favorite place to eat when he was a boy. Sadly, the Inn closed its doors in 1987. Thirty years later, Ford had a hankering for the Inn’s oysters and chicken dinners. So he recreated the recipe —— with his own special tweaks, of course —— and it was delicious.
