Executive chef Bobby Matos is ringing in 2020 with a three-course, prix fixe dinner for $49.95 per person. Start with a jumbo shrimp cocktail martini, followed by “perfect greens” salad for the table and either gulf seasfood & boudin gumbo or golden gnocchi with winter vegetables & greens. Family-style entreés fried chicken biscuits, deviled crab, ham hock black-eyed peas & collards, roasted brussels with Steen’s Syrup and crawfish fritters. The legendary San Jacinto Inn, founded in 1917 as a small family-operated restaurant, was Ford’s favorite place to eat when he was a boy. Sadly, the Inn closed its doors in 1987. Thirty years later, Ford had a hankering for the Inn’s oysters and chicken dinners. So he recreated the recipe —— with his own special tweaks, of course —— and it was delicious.
